Did You Know That...

According to D.O.T. guidelines, your company may be one of those required to:

    1. Maintain accurate records relating to all drug and alcohol testing.
    2. Establish an Alcohol Misuse Prevention Program.
    3. Conduct alcohol testing using an evidential breath tesing device on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's (NTSHA) Conforming Products List.
    4. Have a Medical Review Officer who is a medical doctor trained and experienced in the process of reviewing confirmed positive urine drug test results.
    5. Offer an employee assistance program.

 

As a  transportation company, it is important for you to determine whether you are affected by regulations of the Department of Transportation.  The main body of legislation is 49 Code of Federal Regulations Part 40, which describes the overview of the drug and alcohol regulations.

Each agency of the Department of Transportation has their own interpretation of 49CFR40.
